So, I wanted to drop in and let y'all know how I'm doing.
I went to the hospital on Tuesday the 10th because I could feel my pressure go painfully high. It turns out that my glaucoma was spiking to the point where I was getting reads of at least 70. They kept me in the hospital until Saturday so I could get a surgery to get it under control.
I spent Tuesday, Wednesday, and half of Thursday in ER hallways because there just weren't any rooms available. Everyone was so sweet and apologetic though, and whenever I asked for something they were so quick to try and help. The hospital was kind of a mess, but it had nothing to do with the people I was directly interacting with and that helped a lot. I know ERs can be crazy, so it was really nice to still feel like people wanted to take the time to help me.
Friday the 13th was the surgery and my mother and I kind of laughed about it. We've always seen those days as lucky in my family and I think it kind of held true. My eye pressure has been so much better since I got it done, and the healing has gone really well. I had a few days of really bad discomfort/pain but at this point I'm almost completely normal again. I go back on Wednesday to check that everything is going okay, but I have a lot of hope that nothing exciting will come up.
While I still need to get my corneal transplant, this was a big step toward that and I now have people on my side who are willing to try and help me get there, and that feels really good.
